make more buy less

Fuck black friday. Makes me sick to think how much garbage people bought yesterday, and how much of it will end up in a landfill. Rain gods are going to take a piss on us tomorrow, that makes today a good day to enjoy dry weather on your favorite multi wheeled contraption. Ski's band "Waiting Mortuary" is playing Ramakins on Broad st. tonight and "Cannibus Corpse" is playing tomorrow somewhere. Which reminds me, I saw a a band once, in between songs, the singer says "farm your hair... when it gets to your shoulders, you're free"
Lets get hesh.

Happy Thanksgiving

Jared and I had a happy Thanksgiving and so much to be thankful for. In past years, we have spent the day at the homes of other family members but this year we hosted Thanksgiving at our own home for the very first time. We enjoyed a nice, quiet day with the boys and Jared's parents. Aside from stuffing myself silly and then taking a nap afterward, my next favorite part of the day was setting a pretty table, complete with place cards and my grandmother's silver. I think Jared's favorite part was cooking and carving the turkey. All in all, I'd say a good time was had by everyone. Happy Thanksgiving!

Pear Place Cards

For our little Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow...

So... once again, we had alot of fun this weekend here in Richmond. Mike went apeshit, Latane attended a spiritual healing, walls were scaled, someone gave my bike roids, and pump tracks kick ass. Three cheers for Joe and Linda for having us, sorry for the mess. Oh yeah the BMX part... some good riding went down all over the place all weekend. The trails are close to prime but not quite. Lets get warm.

a bunch of dudes went to woodward for the weekend wintertime session probably like 7 years ago, and i spent around $400 bucks on a video camera thinking it would be good investment and i would use it often, yeah right. i could count the number of times ive used it since that trip. anyway here is some of what was captured.

Later Gators

I'm hopping on a plane to Philadelphia as we speak. One of my best friends from high school is getting married this weekend and I'm taking all the pictures! Hopefully I'll have some fun images to share when I get back. Have a good weekend everyone!

Home Tour

I just enjoyed the home tour of the gal behind Hula Seventy (a great blog with lots of great pictures, by the way). You can check out the tour here. Also, I've decided that I want to become a collector. Of what? I'm not sure. Glass jars, vintage cake stands, letters (as seen above), aprons, children's books, pitchers and/or plates, perhaps. My globes are a start but I've noticed that people who refer to themselves as "collectors" tend to have really cozy, eclectic houses that are built over time and tell a more interesting story than "Yeah, I got this on sale at Target."

Add This to the List...

of rooms I wish were in my house. What do I especially love about this space?
1. Those white pendant lights. (Does anyone know where I can find something similar?)
2. That huge chalkboard wall. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out a way to make a project that involves chalkboard paint work in my current space. I have not figured it out yet, but when I do, watch out!

Jonathan Canlas

It's official. I am in love with the work of Utah-based photographer Jonathan Canlas. My friend Vanessa turned me on to him a couple of months ago (he took her wedding pictures when he was still a photography student at BYU) and I can't get enough! I am a daily reader of his blog and oh my, is his work gorgeous! The coolest part about him is that he shoots 100% film (no digital). I am inspired by the fact that he creates beautiful images straight out of camera without doctoring them up in Photoshop. It makes me want to buy a film camera, learn how to use it and save all my little pennies to attend his Film Is Not Dead seminar. If you are into photography at all, his site is definitely worth bookmarking.

Stuck in the Mud

And this is reason number 543 why you should never try to paint when your kids are awake. I guess that "mud" (according to Mitch) was just a little too tempting.

This cracks me up.

Card Club

Who knew that a long label with a sweet sentiment, wrapped around the edge of a card could bring me so much joy? I'm not sure why, but it does. I made these cards for my little card group but I'm thinking I'll use this same design for some personalized stationary and give it as some sort of gift because I am really enjoying the look of that wrap-around label.

Twenty Eight going on Thirteen

I had an eventful weekend. I rented and watched the movie "Enchanted" on Friday night and then went to the theater to see "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" on Saturday night. And just as I suspected, both movies were pretty much awesome. (Vanessa, I couldn't find a way to say it any better!) I've also decided to read the the Twilight Series, all about teenage vampire romance. Wait, how old am I again?

Snowball

I've been absent from the blogging world for a couple of days because I've been busy trying to piece my house back together. However, I'm happy to report that my ceiling project is nearing a close! The drywall guys were here Monday and Tuesday (finally!) to smooth and sand and I spent the better part of yesterday painting. My ceiling is now smooth and brilliantly white! (Since it probably isn't that noticeable and therefore probably, no definitely, not worth all the trouble I've put into it, humor me the next time you are at my house by exclaiming, "Kim, your ceiling is so smooth...and white!" You can ad lib as you like, but something along those lines should be sufficient.) So anyway, up to this point, I've been working solo on the entire thing (Jared refuses to get dragged into my crazy home improvement projects and I can't blame him...) but I'm hoping to solicit his help today. Because, due to the snowball effect of the project and the fact that the drywall guys did quite a bit of patching on our walls while they were working on the ceiling...we now have to re-paint the majority of our living space. Oh boy. All I wanted to do was paint my kitchen a different color...what happened?
