Busy

I'm alive. I've just been busy. We moved 2.5 weeks ago into a new rental house and it has taken me a full two weeks to recover from it. (Side note: I really hate moving. I actually wrote a poem about it, which I considered sharing here, but it is rated pg-13 for language so I decided against it.) Jared was also on spring break during part of that time, I was sick, then my mom came to visit, and then my kids got sick. I have also been busy doing cartwheels in the nice spring weather and making out with Mr. Sun. (He was away for quite some time and absence always makes the heart grow fonder...) Hopefully I'll be back to blogging more regularly soon. In the meantime, Happy Spring!

Green Police

I didn't watch the Superbowl on Sunday but I did catch up on a few of the commercials on-line yesterday. Of the ten or so I watched, I'd say this one was my favorite. Very funny. I also thought the Bud Light ad with the plane crash was pretty clever too.

Oh lookie! My cousin just informed me that the family picture I took for her is featured on the blog Sensibly Styled. If you aren't already a reader, it's a great fashion blog which finds stylish yet modest clothing solutions for women. Recently they have been doing a feature on successful family photos and I was thrilled to see Christy's cute family featured!

It's official. Today is the first day of autumn. I must admit I'm a little sad to see summer go but also excited for a little more crispness in the air and color in the trees. How about you?

500 Days of Summer

I want to see this movie. So. Stinking. Bad. Unfortunately the closest movie theater showing it is 2 hours away. To add to my pain, I just discovered that it has a musical-esque scene choreographed to a classic Hall and Oates hit. (I love musicals and I love Hall and Oates) No fair.

Stuck in the Middle

hairstyles (trying to grow my hair out-argh!)
seasons (is it fall yet?)
kids (taking a little break from the baby having)
careers (Jared says he's in his new career.
I say, until he's making money at it, we're between.)

Too many betweens. Wishing I were on one side or the other, especially in the hairstyle dept. Seriously, of all the betweens, I think growing my hair out is currently the most grueling.

The Crafty Crow

So my friend Julie informed me that the party hats I made for Spencer's 1st birthday were featured on a blog called the Crafty Crow. (btw, thanks Julie!) I had actually never heard of the Crafty Crow before now but I checked it out and it looks pretty serious/legit. I also just checked my sitemeter and I'm getting a much higher level of traffic than I normally do so if you have arrived here from the Crafty Crow- welcome, welcome! I am flattered to have been mentioned on their site and welcome new visitors and comments with open arms.

Dangerous

I picked this book up from the library yesterday and I'm getting all sorts of crazy ideas. Although I'm in over my head in home projects already (yes, my kitchen is still red... and green... and now part blue...) I'm thinking this book will be a handy little resource for my future home decor endeavors.

(Bonus: Since I was the first person to check the book out, I found a postcard for a free 1 year subscription to Domino magazine inside-sweet!)

Manic Blogger

I have an urge to blog maniacally this week. I have already published three posts (four including this one) and I have six drafts waiting in the wings with more piling up in my head. While I haven't pin pointed the exact cause I think it could have something to do with a combination of some or all of the following:

1. A fun/busy weekend to report (a night out with no kids-Friday, Mitch's birthday party, the OSU game and a photo shoot-Saturday and fun company for dinner-Sunday.)
2. It's my way of relieving pent up pre-28th-birthday anxiety.
3. I have several fun internet finds to file/share.
4. I am subconsciously (okay, consciously) trying to avoid unpleasant tasks like my ceiling scraping project and potty training Mitch.
5. The sugar-induced high courtesy of the 1/2 gallon of Graeter's Mint Chocolate Chip icecream Jared brought home last night.

Whatever the cause, just bear with me. I'm trying to keep it under control by spreading my drafted posts out over this week. I'm thinking things will settle down and return to normal in the next week or so. But tell me, does anyone else ever feel like a manic blogger?

I'm Back

Excuse me for the lack of posts last week. Among other things, Jared and I were visiting family in Marietta for several days. Now that I'm back it's business as usual. That is, keeping this thing updated with my general non-sense just about daily.

Senator Palpatine

I spotted this life-size, cardboard figure outside a supposed "family friendly" snack bar over the weekend. Is it just me or does this guy bear a striking resemblance to Senator Palpatine, aka The Emperor, from Star Wars? I think it must be a combination of the way that hot dog hood casts a shadow over his evil eyes and the menacing grin he's sporting. Either way, I'm officially freaked out.

Double Bummer

I was sorely disappointed Jim didn't propose to Pam last night on the season finale of The Office. (Darn you Andy!) But I should've guessed the writers wouldn't make it that easy. Bummer.
Also, you know the store I blogged about yesterday, Paper Thread? Well, after several fruitless attempts to find their web-site I called the store. Can you believe they don't have one? I was floored. Seriously folks, no web-site? Double bummer.

b) Sticker paper from Staples. I'm thinking the labeling possibilities could be endless.

Bring Out the Best

Last year at about this time, I ate the perfect turkey sandwich while vacationing in Florida. The sandwich included delicious bread, turkey sliced fresh from the deli and Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise. Since that time, I have been trying to recreate my perfect turkey sandwich experience. I've purchased various brands of bread and various brands of deli turkey. To my dismay, all my perfect sandwich recreation attempts have been in vain. Figuring a huge part of the deliciousness of the sandwich was based around the mayonnaise (it was the full fatty kind and I normally buy light) I even purchased full fatty store brand mayo. Sadly, even with full fat mayonnaise, my creations just weren't living up to the dream sandwich I ate while on vacation. After sharing my disappointment with Jared, he suggested that perhaps the sandwich just tasted good because I was eating it at the beach and washing it down with a pina colada. He had a good point but I wasn't willing to give up just yet. And I'm glad I didn't because this week I broke down and purchased HELLMANN'S REAL Mayonnaise. Little did I know there is a HUGE difference between the store brand full fatty mayo and Hellmann's. I figured all brands of full fatty mayonnaise were created equal, right? WRONG! Hellmann's truly is THE BEST. At last! I found my perfect turkey sandwich! Who would have guessed it has nothing to do with the bread or the turkey but everything to do with Hellmann's full fatty, real mayonaise. I'm in heaven. Now I just need to find the perfect pina colada mix and a beach and I'm set.
